The Old Rectory
This house was designed by George Gilbert Scott, as is a fine example of a Victorian English rectory. The house is some way from the church but commands a good views across the Somerset countryside.
The brief was to modernise the house and add a large kitchen family room as well as a new attic conversion.
The attic posed various technical issues with co-ordinating steel sizes and fitting them onto with an old building that was ‘wonky’ out of square and in need of various remedial repairs.
The contractors overcame these issues and the end result was a very satisfying conclusion. The house was given a new lease of life, modernised with new wiring, plumbing and services, whilst the high Victorian feel retained.
